Quadrangular
Each September, members of our Club get together with their counterparts from our contact clubs from Cologne, Liège and Lille for a weekend of fun, fellowship and fundraising, with each club taking it in turns to host the event. There is also a serious purpose in the form of a joint humanitarian project and, in the last decade, many thousands of pounds and euros have been raised to provide much-needed resources and practical support to those in the developing world.Recent projects have included:
- the establishment of a number of wells in Central Africa to provide safe drinking water for over 10,000 people
- supporting a team of German Rotarian Doctors working at St. Dominic’s Children's Hospital, Akwatia, Ghana, to help to stop the spread of Aids. Their work involves working with mothers who carry the Aids virus and preventing them from passing it on to their unborn children. The programme is proving to be a great success - last year over 100 babies of mothers carrying the virus were born Aids free.
